Sending money to a total stranger can be risky and intimidating, so we collect your rent payments securely online to reduce any worries. We hold your first rental payment to complete the booking, and we do not release the payment to your landlord until after you move in and confirm everything is in order.

Pay Less Upfront

Since foreigners cannot be subjected to credit checks, landlords often charge more money upfront—sometimes in excess of 6 months of rent before even moving in! Jumpsure holds a secure booking deposit for the duration of your rental, eliminating the need to pay multiple months of rent before ever arriving at the place.

Secure Booking

Jumpsure holds and protects your secure booking deposit for the duration of your rental. Your landlord can only submit a claim on it if a specific eligible incident occurs. Otherwise, as long as you continue to exchange payments using the Jumpsure platform, you are able to reclaim your secure booking deposit at the end of your stay.

How do I pay my rent?

Rent payments can be managed through your Jumpsure dashboard, which is visible after you log in to your account. You will receive email reminders prior to your upcoming rent due date. You can also choose to set automated payments to ensure your rent is always paid ontime. All payments are handled by Stripe’s world-leading payment platform.

What about fees?

Jumpsure collects a small fee equal to 5% of your monthly rent to ensure we can provide you the best possible experience throughout your rental. In addition, there is a 20% Establishment Fee collected on the first month only.

Your Secure Booking Deposit (equal to one month of rent) is collected with your first rental payment. It will be returned to you at the end of your rental period, assuming there have been no incidents warranting the provider’s claim on your funds. All claims are processed through Jumpsure’s Resolution Center, and you will have the ability to dispute a claim before it is finalized.

If all is good, no action needed. You’re all set! If you determine that your tenant had caused damage to your property during his or her stay, you may submit a claim on your tenant’s secure booking deposit. Log in to Jumpsure to submit your claim within 7 days of the move-out.

How do I collect my rent?

You will receive an email notification each time a rent payment is received. Rent payments received and due to you can be viewed in your Jumpsure dashboard, which is visible after you log in to your account. All payments are handled by Stripe’s world-leading payment platform. Simply create a Stripe account and link it toyour own bank account to receive your Jumpsure rental payouts.

What about fees?

Jumpsure collects a small fee equal to 3% of each payout you receive. This covers our payment processing and also allows us to provide you with top-quality customer support throughout the duration of your rental period. We manage the rent collection process on your behalf, and we retain the tenant’s secure booking deposit in case an eligible claim must be made.

WHAT IS JUMPSURE?

Jumpsure is a monthly rental accommodation platform. Jumpsure facilitates the connection between Tenant and Provider, the booking process and the rent payment each month.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Tenants browse listings posted by Providers. They start the connection by messaging Providers. Providers have the power to select the Tenant they would like to rent to by sending them a booking invitation. Tenants have 24 hours to accept or decline the booking invitation. When they accept, they finalize the booking by paying the first month’s rent plus the secure deposit fee and the establishment fee. The first month’s rent is transferred to the Provider 48 hours after the Tenant moves in.

WHO CAN USE JUMPSURE?

Jumpsure can be used by anyone in New York who wants to and has the right to rent their accommodation. Even though Jumpsure’s mission is to propose a solution for foreigners, that doesn’t mean that American Tenants are not welcome. Tenants from every race and ethnicity can use the Jumpsure platform to book accommodation in New York. However, Jumpsure is required to comply with international regulations that restrict the use of our site by residents of certain countries. Because of this, our services are not available in Crimea, Iran, Sudan, Syria, or North Korea.

ARE THERE ANY FEES TO USE JUMPSURE?

For using Jumpsure’s service, Tenants will be charged a one-time establishment fee, as well as a processing fee each month for the rent payment. Providers will be charged a service fee each month to receive the rent payment.

WHAT IS THE ESTABLISHMENT FEE?

The establishment fee is Jumpsure’s fee for the service of facilitating the connection between Tenant and Provider and securing the booking payment transaction.

WHAT IS THE MONTHLY PROCESSING FEE?

The monthly processing fee is Jumpsure’s fee charged to Tenants for the monthly service of facilitating the rent payment between Tenant and Provider.

WHAT IS THE PROVIDER SERVICE FEE?

The provider service fee is Jumpsure’s fee charged to Providers for the monthly service of facilitating the rent payment between Tenants and Providers.

WHAT IS THE SECURE BOOKING DEPOSIT?

The secure booking deposit is a deposit payment to cover any issues (damage of the provider’s accommodation, second month rent payment declined…). It is refundable after the rental is over, providing there are no issues.

WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY?

HOW DOES MOVE IN/ MOVE OUT WORK?

At your move-in date, you will have until midnight of that day to claim any issues with Jumpsure. If no claim has been received, the rent payment will be transferred to the Provider. At your move-out date, you will receive a reminder to request your secure booking deposit back.

WHEN AND HOW IS THE SECURE BOOKING DEPOSIT RETURNED?

The secure booking deposit will be transferred back to the default payment/ payout method used on the Jumpsure platform. As soon as the request has been submitted to Jumpsure, Jumpsure staff will verify and make the assessment at their own discretion in the next 48 hours. It will take 2 to 5 business days for you to receive the secure booking deposit.

WHY DO I HAVE TO VERIFY MY ID?

ID verification is required to prove to both parties that Jumpsure users are real. With user verification, the trust between Provider and Tenant is increased.

WHY A VIDEO LISTING?

A video listing helps to increase Tenant confidence to rent your accommodation. With a video, you can show your apartment in a 3-dimensional view and provide a visit online. No surprises for the Tenant when they move in!

WHAT TYPE OF LISTINGS ARE PERMITTED?

Jumpsure accepts any type of accommodation in New York that is safe to rent as long as you are authorized to rent or sublet this place.

WHY LIST A PLACE ON JUMPSURE?

On Jumpsure’s platform, you can find verified Tenants and select them personally through the video profiles and video chat that we offer on our platform.

WHY SHOULD I USE JUMPSURE TO RECEIVE MY RENT PAYMENT?

By using Jumpsure’s online payment platform, you reduce the hassle of paper checks and reduce the risk of fraud and theft.

HOW DO I LIST A PLACE?

To list a place on Jumpsure, you need to create an account. Once the account has been confirmed, go to ‘list a place’ and follow the different steps.

HOW DO I ACCEPT A TENANT?

You will receive messages from different Tenants. Select the Tenant you decide to rent you place to and send them a booking invitation. You can send only one booking invitation at a time.

HOW AND WHEN DO I RECEIVE RENT PAYMENTS?

Jumpsure takes care to collect the money from the Tenant a week in advance, for us to be able to transfer you the rent every first of each month. We do allow a grace period for the Tenant to pay the rent, so you should expect to receive the rent in the first week of the month. However, if the Tenant exceeds that grace period by more than 3 days, we would compensate you by charging them a late fee of up to 5% of the amount of the rent. For us to be able to transfer you the money, you need to set up your payout method.

WHEN DO I RECEIVE THE FIRST RENT PAYMENT?

After moving in, a tenant has 24 hours (until midnight move-in day) to report if a room is not as it was communicated to be on Jumpsure. If no complaints are received, the payment will be initiated by Jumpsure, which can take up to 2-5 business days (because banks are slow). The first month’s rent can therefore be expected within a week of the tenant moving in.

HOW TO I SET UP MY PAYOUT METHOD?

To set up your payout method, go to your settings and click on ‘payout method’. You will be redirected to a secure payment platform called Stripe. Follow the instructions there.

DO I HAVE A FEE TO PAY TO COLLECT THE RENT?

For each rent payment, Jumpsure’s service fee to transfer you the payment is 3% of the rent amount.

CAN I CHANGE MY LISTING AVAILABILITIES?

Ones your listing is created, you have the option to edit it and make modifications to it, including changing the availability. Once your listing has been booked, you cannot edit or modify it anymore.

CAN I CHOOSE ANOTHER TENANT?

One you have sent a booking invitation to a Tenant, and they have accepted it and confirmed the booking by making the payment, you are not allowed.

CAN I CANCEL A BOOKING?

The Provider has the right to cancel a booking in accordance to the cancellation policy. View cancellation policy. They may be subject to a cancellation penalty. View cancellation penalty policy.

DO I HAVE THE RIGHT TO ASK THE TENANT TO LEAVE MY ACCOMMODATION BEFORE THE END DATE OF THE BOOKING?

If the Tenant has stayed more than 30 days and your request for them to leave is not in the rental agreement that you have signed, you cannot ask them to leave. Check your rights by reviewing your local laws.

WHAT HAPPEN IF THE TENANT DOESN’T PAY THE RENT?

If the Tenant fails to pay the rent, Jumpsure has the right to transfer the secure booking deposit to the Provider. Jumpsure highly recommends Providers to agree with the Tenant to sign a rental agreement. If not, Jumpsure encourages you to review your rights according to your local laws.

WHAT HAPPEN IF THE TENANT BECOMES A SQUATTER?

Once the secure booking deposit has been transferred to any party, Jumpsure is no longer involved. Anything that happens after that is agreed upon between the Tenant and the Provider under any type of rental agreement signed. If the Tenant didn’t vacate the Provider’s accommodation after non-payment of the rent, Jumpsure is not responsible for evicting the Tenant. Jumpsure recommends knowing your rights according to New York State law, and also recommends that Tenants and Providers sign a rental agreement for the rental period booked.

WHY DO I HAVE TO MAKE A VIDEO PROFILE?

A video profile helps to increase Provider confidence to rent accommodation to the Tenant. The Tenant can show their personality through a video, and the connection can become deeper and more personal.

WHY BOOK A PLACE ON JUMPSURE?

We only transfer the rent to the Provider after you have moved in, to make sure that everything worked out.. And all the providers on our platform are verified.

WHY SHOULD I USE JUMPSURE TO PAY MY RENT?

Jumpsure is an online payment platform that allows you to pay rent with a credit card or a debit card. You can free yourself from the tyranny of paper checks and enjoy the convenience of a credit card or debit card as a method of payment to quickly pay your rent. This is especially helpful for foreigners without a US bank account. You can even go one step further and setup AutoPay to pay rent on time, every single month.

HOW DO I BOOK A PLACE?

Start messaging the Provider and let them know your interest to book their place. If the Provider selects you to rent their place, you will receive a booking invitation. You have 24 hours to accept or decline the booking invitation. Once you have accepted, payment will be required in order to finalize the booking.

HOW MUCH IS THE BOOKING PAYMENT? WHAT PAYMENT IS REQUIRED TO MOVE IN?

To move in, you will have to pay the first month’s rent plus the secure booking deposit that corresponds to one month’s rent and the establishment fee that correspond to 20% of the rent amount.

WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AMOUNT OF TIME I CAN RENT FOR?

On Jumpsure, the minimum amount of time you can rent for is 30 nights. Jumpsure is a monthly rental platform.

HOW DO I CHANGE MY BOOKING DATES?

Please confirm with your Provider and then inform us at info@jumpsure.com so that we can update your booking information. If the Provider doesn’t agree to change the booking date, you will need to cancel the booking in accordance with the cancellation policy.

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE CAN I BOOK?

You can book as many months in advance as the Provider wants to offer their place.

HOW DOES THE BOOKING INVITATION WORK?

After messaging multiple providers, you may get more than one Provider sending you a booking invitation. Each booking invitation expires after 24 hours. You can either decline or accept the booking invitation. Once you have accepted one booking invitation, any others will automatically be declined.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I GET MULTIPLE BOOKING INVITATIONS?

If you receive multiple booking invitations, make sure to select your favorite. You can only accept one booking invitation. By doing so, all other booking invitation will be automatically declined. You have 24 hours to accept or decline each booking invitation received.

ARE THERE ANY FEES?

A booking via Jumpsure includes the first month’s rent and the booking fee. The booking fee comprises 20% of the first month’s rent and is charged once for using our platform. A refundable payment deposit is also required in case of any damage you may cause or to cover any future payment issues (card declined or cancelled…). If you book for multiple months, the service fee is 5% of the rent for each rent payment.

HOW DO I PAY MY RENT?

You have two options to pay your rent: manually by going into your dashboard and making a payment with the payment method saved, or automatically by setting up a recurring payment in your payment method preference.

CAN I SET UP A RECURRING PAYMENT TO PAY THE RENT?

On Jumpsure is it possible to set up a recurring payment by activating Auto Pay in your settings.

CAN MY RENT INCREASE?

The rental price provided on the listing is the price throughout the term of the agreement. Only if agreements are extended or cancelled and re-entered is the Provider able to adjust the rental price.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY PAYMENT IS DECLINED?

If your payment is declined, you will be notified by email and be asked to enter a new payment method. Two days later we will notify you by email if you haven’t yet updated your payment method. We will remind you of the rules and sanctions for late payment.

WHEN DO I HAVE TO PAY MY RENT?

The 21st of each month is the rent payment date. You will be notified with an email reminder 2 day before. You also have the option to set up the automatic payment in the settings.

WHAT HAPPEN IF I MISS THE PAYMENT DATE?

If you miss the payment date you will be notified with an email reminder. Jumpsure gives you a grace period until the 28th of the month to make the rent payment. After 3 days past the 28th, you will be sanctioned with a late fee of 5% of the rent amount.

DOES JUMPSURE CHARGE A LATE FEE FOR LATE RENT PAYMENT?

We do charge a late fee of 5% of the rent amount if the payment is late.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T PAY MY RENT?

If you signed a rental agreement with the Provider, the Provider has the right to applied was is written for this case in the rental agreement. Jumpsure’s role, in this case, will be to cover the rent payment with your secure booking deposit. Jumpsure will also sanction you by not having the right to use the platform anymore. You account will be inactivated and blocked.

CAN I CANCEL MY BOOKING BEFORE THE MOVE-IN DATE?

The Tenant can cancel the booking before the move-in date according to the cancellation policy. View cancellation policies.

DO I HAVE TO SIGN A LEASE CONTRACT?

Tenants that book accommodation for more than 30 days may establish rights as a tenant. Generally, this means that local tenancy laws could protect them. Jumpsure highly recommends Tenants sign a rental agreement.

DOES THE PROVIDER HAVE THE RIGHT TO ASK ME TO LEAVE BEFORE THE END OF THE BOOKING?

If the Tenant didn’t sign a rental agreement, and booked accommodation for more than 30 days, they may establish legal rights as a tenant. Generally, this means that local tenancy laws could protect them. Check your local laws to know your rights.

HOW DO I REQUEST THE SECURE BOOKING DEPOSIT BACK?

To request the Secure Booking Deposit back you have two options: you can log in to your dashboard and submit a claim for it,. or you can claim your deposit by email at info@jumpsure.com.

WHAT IF I WANT TO LEAVE BEFORE MY MOVE-OUT DATE?

If you want to leave before your move-out date and receive your secure booking deposit back, you need to have prior written consent from the Provider. If you have signed an agreement with them, check in that agreement what the rule is for moving out early.

HOW DO I GET THE KEY?

Once your booking is confirmed, we recommend you clarify all the details for moving in directly with the Provider.

CAN A COUPLE RENT ONE ROOM?

The Provider has the right to decide if they want to rent the room to a couple or not. We advise you to ask the Provider before booking, otherwise the Provider can reject you at your move-in date if you are a couple and you haven’t informed them.

ARE UTILITIES INCLUDED IN THE RENT PRICE?

The Provider decides which utilities are included in the rent. You can see on the listing page what utilities are included in that price.

IS IT SAFE TO BOOK A LISTING ON JUMPSURE?

All listings published on Jumpsure are manually checked by Jumpsure staff, and in order for a Provider to publish a listing on Jumpsure they have to go through identity verification. In the case of a Provider canceling a booking, Jumpsure also offers some guarantees to the Tenant (see Jumpsure’s guarantee policy in the Terms and Conditions).

IS A CREDIT CHECK REQUIRED TO RENT A PLACE ON JUMPSURE?

No credit check is required on Jumpsure to rent a place. You don’t need to have a social security number or a credit score. You also don’t need a guarantor. All you need to do to rent a place on Jumpsure is provide a valid payment method and perform identity verification.

WHAT IS REQUIRED TO RENT A PLACE ON JUMPSURE?

To rent a place on Jumpsure, it is required that you verify your identity with your email address, telephone number, and ID. You also need to have a valid payment method.

IS THERE A BROKER FEE IN ADDITION TO JUMPSURE’S FEES?

Jumpsure is not a platform designed for brokers, but we don’t block them from using it. If a broker does list a place on the Jumpsure platform and require a broker fee, they would have to specify it in the listing description.
